DCF AWARDS $3.3 MILLION GRANTS IN 2008
Dearborn Community Foundation awarded 196 grants totaling 3.3 million to non-profit organizations in 2008. The grants support the needs/interests of the community in the fields of community service, human service, education, health, environment and animals, public benefit, and the arts and culture.
The Foundation considers awarded grants to be” investments” in our community. DCF grants benefit the community in a variety of ways. Projects range from supporting Dearborn County 4-H programs and for the start up of the new Region 15 Children’s Advocacy Center to the Dearborn County Historical Society for exterior renovations Vance-Tousey House and the Lawrenceburg Community Center for start up. These grants had a major impact on the lives of many people in our community.
The majority of Foundation funds awarded to non-profit organizations are discretionary grants for which the organization conducts a competitive review and the decision-making process. The balance of DCF grants are awarded based on recommendations by our donors and are paid out of donor’s endowment funds. Figures for grants awarded in 2008 also include grants administered by DCF for the Lawrenceburg School Endowment Corporation.
