DCF Legacy Society Honorees
The Legacy Society of the Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF) is a
group of individuals who have made a dedicated effort to invest in our
community through endowments at the Foundation. These honorees live in
Dearborn County or have strong ties to our community.
DCF added 15 new members to the Legacy Society in 2006, bringing the
total number of honorees to 48. Legacy Society members have contributed
a significant charitable endowment at DCF to support charitable needs in
our community.
Some have established scholarship funds, while others have established
donor-advised funds so that they can select a different charity to
support with income from the endowment each year. Some select a specific
charity to receive income from the endowment each year.
Legacy Society members have chosen to make a difference in our community
today, knowing that their gifts will continue to give tomorrow and
forever into the future.

2006 Honorees
Jada & Greg Ankenbauer and Jane & Mike
Noel
These friends established the “In The Interest of Children Unrestricted
Fund” as a way for them to give back to the community. Jada, a
Foundation board member, and Jane for many years owned and operated a
childcare facility and wanted to do something to make a lasting
difference for youth in our community. The fund provides support to
charitable organizations in Dearborn County as directed by the
Foundation Board of Directors.
James Jr. & Carla Blair
The Blairs established the “Blair Family Fund,” a donor-advised fund
that provides support to charitable purposes or organizations in
Dearborn County.
Ron & Bonnie Powell
The Powells created the “Powell Family Fund,” a donor-advised fund,
which supports charitable purposes and organizations for the betterment
of our community. Ron is a member of the Foundation Board of Directors.
Mike & Loretta Heffelmire
Steve & Virginia Heffelmire
Larry & Marylin Heffelmire
Members of the Heffelmire family member established the “Heffelmire
Family Fund,” a designated endowment, to provide operational support to
the Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. Mike Heffelmire is a member of
the Foundation board of directors.
The late Frank R. Longcamp, D.D.S.
Dr. Longcamp was inducted into the Legacy Society posthumously. Through
a trust established many years ago by Dr. Longcamp, an endowment was
created: “The Frank R. Longcamp Scholarship Fund.” Dr. Longcamp was a
dentist lived in Greendale and practiced his profession in Aurora for
many years. He had no children. When Dr. Longcamp’s wife passed away, he
decided to create a scholarship fund to help Dearborn County students
attend college. He set aside in his will a trust that would provide an
annual scholarship to a student. After his death many years ago, the
scholarship program evolved to provide an annual scholarship to a
student at each of the three county high schools. In 2005, the Trust
that set up the scholarship remained in a local bank’s trust department.
The bank was being acquired and needed to close out its trust
department. Bill Ewan, Dr. Longcamp’s attorney, needed to find a home
for this fine scholarship program started by Mr. Longcamp many years
ago. Mr. Ewan contacted the Foundation about endowing the scholarship
program and then he sought and received approval from the Dearborn
Circuit Court to transfer the trust into an endowment at the Foundation.
