Denise Ann Beyer Memorial Scholarship Program

The intent of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a deserving South Dearborn High School student who has the academic foundation, sincere desire, and motivation to complete a four-year college program and who might not otherwise have the financial means to begin to do so.
  1. Equal consideration will be given to all applicants meeting the scholarship eligibility requirements outlined below with financial need and character being the deciding factors.
 

Eligibility Criteria:

The scholarship applicants are eligible based on the following scholarship criteria:
  1. Applicant must submit a completed scholarship application to the South Dearborn High School Guidance Office no later than the end of the school day on Friday, March 28, 2008.
  2. Applicant must be a current South Dearborn High School (SDHS) senior enrolled in a college preparatory program at SDHS that includes:
    • 4 years of college-prep English
    • 3 years of college-prep math (at least Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry or their equivalents)
    • 2 years of foreign language
    • 2 years of college-prep science (Chemistry, physics, biology, etc.)
  3. Applicant must be planning to pursue a four-year degree in a math or science related field; including but not limited to computers, engineering, economics, business, pharmacy, nursing, or teaching science/math/computers
  4. Applicant must have a minimum accumulated GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scaled based on freshman, sophomore, junior and 1st semester grades for senior year.
 

Selection Criteria :

The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected based on:
  1. Applicant meets all required eligibility criteria.
  2. Recipients will be recommended by the Donors’ Advisory Committee which will consist of the SDHS Principal, a non-athletic SDHS Vice-Principal, two SDHS Guidance Counselors and two SDHS teachers who have knowledge of the majority of seniors.
  3. Financial need as determined by an applicant’s responses to the questions on the application and any personal information made
    available to the Donors’ Advisory Committee by the applicant.
  4. Character of the individual as determined by the teacher evaluations
     of the student in the areas of general attitude, interest in learning, self-motivation, self-reliance, responsibility, potential for completing a
    four-year degree and probability of completing a four-year degree.
  5. Teacher evaluation forms should be completed by all classroom
    teachers the applicant has had during his/her senior year.
