PROACTIVE GRANT TO SIEOC’S BEV HENRY FUND HELPS FAMILIES IN NEED

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., DECEMBER 18, 2023 – The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 proactive grant to the Bev Henry Emergency Fund at Southeastern Indiana Economic Opportunities Corporation (SIEOC) to help families in need.

In its 25th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2023 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

“The Bev Henry Emergency Fund is a resource in our community for those that find themselves in need during emergency situations,” said DCF Board member Bridget Davidson, who recommended the grant to SIEOC. The program solely relies on donations, and all funds assist families. The grant will allow the program to assist more families, and continue to address community needs, she said.

The fund, named in memory of SEIOC’s former director Beverly Henry, provides a variety of assistance to income-eligible families in crisis situations in Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, Switzerland, and Union counties in Southeast Indiana. Assistance includes help for rent, utilities, food, and medical needs.
